The Innocent Udoidiong Foundation (IUF) has provided free petrol to over 2,000 commercial motorcyclists and small business owners across Abak, Ika, Etim Ekpo, and Ukanafun Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State. The gesture is aimed at alleviating the financial strain caused by the recent hike in fuel prices.

According to a statement from the foundation’s Media Officer, Mr. Tony Esin, each beneficiary received three liters of petrol during the weekend exercise. The foundation’s National Coordinator, Mr. Joseph Ekpo, led the distribution team and encouraged beneficiaries to reduce transportation costs in their communities as a way of extending the support further.

Ekpo reiterated the foundation’s commitment to easing the burden on local residents, stating, “We aim to lessen the daily struggles of our people as the economic challenges intensify.”

In response, Comrade Ediomo Udombong, President of Physically Challenged Persons in Ika LGA, expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries. “We are grateful for Mr. Udoidiong’s kindness. This support comes at a time when we’re facing significant hardship, and we pray for God to reward him abundantly,” he said.

Isaac Akpan, a beneficiary from Ikot Udobong in Ukanafun, echoed this sentiment, calling the foundation’s support a “display of generosity” and expressing heartfelt thanks to Udoidiong for reaching out during a difficult time.

In Etim Ekpo LGA, commercial motorcyclists gathered at a filling station near Old Obo Market Square to receive the fuel donation. One recipient, Mr. Odudu Philip, voiced his appreciation for the foundation’s support, highlighting that Udoidiong is a private businessman rather than a politician. “This gesture is deeply valued because it shows genuine care, unlike some politicians who forget the people who support them,” Philip remarked.

The UK-based Innocent Udoidiong Foundation continues to focus on initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable communities and providing relief to those affected by economic hardships.
